Cannot create database on ODA X6-2m after changing default port from 1521 to 13200

Hi There,

Here is a nice one,

We managed to setup two nice ODA X6-2M for one customer and because of security reasons, the customer request us to setup the listener using port 13200. Apparently this was supposed to be trivial, but in fact it’s not…

Here is the story.

I am setting up an ODA X6-2m.

Create database using:

/opt/oracle/dcs/bin/odacli create-database -n mydbtst-m -cs AL32UTF8 -cl OLTP -l AMERICAN -s odb8 -r ACFS -dt AMERICA -y SI -ns AL16UTF16 -v 12.1.0.2

This works fine, but if a change the listener port as follow:

Modify the listener

[grid@xxxxxxxxx~]$ srvctl config listener
Name: LISTENER
Type: Database Listener
Network: 1, Owner: grid
Home: CRS home
End points: TCP:1521
Listener is enabled.
Listener is individually enabled on nodes:
Listener is individually disabled on nodes:

[grid@xxxxxxxxx ~]$ srvctl modify listener -endpoints "TCP:13200"

[grid@xxxxxxxxx ~]$ srvctl config listener
Name: LISTENER
Type: Database Listener
Network: 1, Owner: grid
Home: CRS home
End points: TCP:13200
Listener is enabled.
Listener is individually enabled on nodes:
Listener is individually disabled on nodes:

Create the DB

/opt/oracle/dcs/bin/odacli create-database -n mydbtst2 -m -cs AL32UTF8 -cl OLTP -l AMERICAN -s odb8 -r ACFS -dt AMERICA -y SI -ns AL16UTF16 -v 12.1.0.2

It fail to create database with “create database service failed”

Seems lined to local_listener configuration when creating the instance as the instance crash with “Terminating the instance due to error 119” error.

This is the answer from Oracle support:

Hi Jacques,

The database creation can be done in the x6 ODA with the default port number 1521 only ,the port number can be changed after the database creation .

So if we have to have the database with the different port number then we have to change the listener port after the database creation in X6 ODA

Regards

So I guess this is a good workaround for a productive system right? 🙂

If someone have a better idea…

Cheers
